Hormone Therapy FAQs

  • What Causes a Hormone Imbalance in Women?

Hormone imbalance in women can occur as part of the aging process and may reflect genetic predispositions for certain conditions. However, hormone balance or imbalance can also be affected by the foods we eat, the exercise we get, and the amount of stress we experience.

  • What Is the Endocrine System?

When a hormonal imbalance in a woman’s endocrine system occurs, it can cause a variety of problems. The endocrine system is a series of glands that produce and disseminate hormones throughout the body. A woman’s hormones do much more than just regulate mood and sexuality—they can determine whether an individual may be at risk for elevated blood sugar, decreased bone density, and thyroid problems.*

  • What Conditions Can Hormone Imbalance Cause?

When a female has a hormone imbalance in their endocrine system, they can develop symptoms that range from subtle to debilitating. This means there is either too much or too little of a woman’s hormones being produced somewhere within the endocrine system. Symptoms of a hormonal imbalance in women may include:

    • Heavy, irregular, or uncomfortable periods*
    • Decreased bone density*
    • Hot flashes and night sweats*
    • Vaginal dryness*
    • Breast tenderness*
    • Indigestion*
    • Constipation or diarrhea*
  • What Type of Female Hormone Imbalance Therapies Exist?

There are three paths when choosing a course of medical treatment for hormone imbalance in women. The first is doing nothing to optimize hormones and hoping that the patient will feel better. The second is the conventional medicine route and suggesting treatment options that may mask a woman’s symptoms. The third is to consider optimizing hormones with a Biote Certified Provider. Biote Certified Providers have consistently reported that one of the most effective methods of regaining hormonal balance they have tried is through bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) pellets. Pellets can be inserted in a few minutes. Typically, within four to six weeks after a pellet insertion, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) begins to work. But every woman is different, and some may require additional insertions for her body to dial in and experience the best results. The pellets supply bioidentical hormones that match those produced by the body and last up to three to six months.

Hormone Optimization With Biote

The primary goal of Biote is to help balance hormones through bioidentical hormone replacement therapy using pellets. Hormone balance is crucial to leading a healthier and more fulfilling life. That’s why the mission of Biote is to help people live better, longer.*

What Is the Goal of Hormone Optimization Therapy?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may offer relief for many common and debilitating symptoms that medical providers often overlook. Some of these symptoms include:

  • Exhaustion*
  • Stress*
  • Foggy thinking*
  • Weight gain*
  • Sleep disturbances*
  • And so much more*

Often, people with symptoms like these are suffering from hormonal imbalance. These ailments may be managed by getting to the root cause of these complex conditions and returning the patient to a state of hormonal balance. BHRT may be a simple method for correcting these complex issues through hormone optimization.*

What Is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Pellet Therapy?

Bioidentical hormone replacement pellet therapy is a personalized approach to hormone replacement. It allows a patient’s body to absorb the right level of hormones at the right time using a delivery method the body can process efficiently.

Pellets are small capsules (about the size of a grain of rice) that contain bioidentical hormones like testosterone or estrogen. A bioidentical hormone is the exact molecular structure of hormones the body produces naturally.

They are inserted under the skin, where hormones enter the bloodstream as they dissolve over several months. Our studies show that patients may see the effects of hormone optimization up to four weeks after a pellet insertion. Everyone is unique and some people may feel the effects immediately, while others may take up to two or more pellet insertions before they feel full effects.

Hormones delivered by pellet therapy bypass the liver, do not affect clotting factors, do not increase the risk of thrombosis, and avoid the fluctuations of hormone levels some patients may experience.* Biote bioidentical hormone pellets are made from soy or the yam plant to create estradiol and/or testosterone molecules, unlike synthetic hormones, which are made from animal parts or urine and have a different molecular structure than what the body produces.

How Can a Patient Get Started With BHRT?

Getting started with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is simple at Replenish IV Solutions, a certified Biote Provider. During your first visit, our team will test your current hormone levels and conduct a comprehensive consultation to determine if the Biote Method is right for you. When appropriate, pellet therapy can be conveniently scheduled at your follow-up appointment, helping you take the next step toward balanced hormones and improved well-being.

What Can a Patient Expect From BHRT?

As each patient’s symptoms are unique, so is each patient’s path to hormone optimization. Some patients report some relief in as soon as four weeks, but full hormone optimization may take up to six months. Many report feeling more benefits after the second insertion. The Biote Method of hormone optimization therapy will be customized to balance each patient’s hormones and fit their specific needs.
